Graduate students, you鈥檙e invited to join the 91快播 and University of Hawai驶i Sea Grant Programs for an informational webinar on the John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship on Thursday, Jan 26, 2023, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Guam time. To register for the webinar, go to  

The fellowship provides a unique educational and professional experience to graduate students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources.

The fellowship is named after one of Sea Grant's founders and former NOAA Administrator John A. Knauss, and matches highly qualified graduate students with "hosts" in the legislative and executive branch of government in the Washington, D.C. area.

Knauss fellows receive a $68,000 stipend for the length of their fellowship over 12 months.

Applications are due to the UOG Sea Grant by February 16, 2023.

This webinar will be facilitated by UOG Sea Grant Assistant Director for Communications Kyle Mandapat and Hawai驶i Sea Grant Assistant Director for Research and Fellowships Maya Walton, along with Knauss alumni panelist Lauren Swaddell, Dr. Beth Lenz, and Dr. Mariana Rocha de Souza.

U.S. citizenship is not required. The fellowship begins February 1, 2024 and ends on January 31, 2025. Some of the criteria include:

  • The student is enrolled toward a degree in a graduate program at any point between the 2022 Fall Term and February 16, 2023
  • The graduate degree will be awarded through an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or U.S. Territories
  • The student has an interest in ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources.
