UOG鈥檚 Economics Honor Society Welcomes New Inductees
Omicron Delta Epsilon Alpha Chapter celebrates academic excellence in economics with latest cohort of faculty and students.
The 91快播鈥檚 Alpha Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), the international honor society for economics, inducted six new members during a ceremony on Friday, April 25, at the UOG campus.
Faculty advisors and ODE members Dr. Claret Ruane, Professor of Economics at the UOG School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) and Dr. Kuan-Ju Chen, Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at the UOG College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) delivered welcoming remarks.
They were joined by ODE officers Christian Valencia, ODE President and Assistant Economist at the Guam Department of Labor and Celia Anderson, ODE Vice President and Financial Analyst at the Guam Economic and Development Authority.
The new inductees included one faculty member and five students:
McManus, Mesubed, and Santos will be graduating from UOG later this month.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 induction reflects the continued momentum of the ODE-UOG chapter in fostering academic excellence and professional development in economics.,鈥 said Ruane. 鈥淲ith these new members joining a growing network of accomplished scholars and professionals, ODE-UOG strengthens its role as a hub for economic inquiry and leadership within the region.鈥
This year鈥檚 induction ceremony was followed by a dinner reception sponsored by SBPA鈥檚 ICBEIT annual international conference series. During the ceremony, Ruane recognized existing ODE members in attendance and other guests before presenting the achievements of the ODE-UOG Chapter this current academic year, which included hosting three international conferences and seminars:
The Omicron Delta Epsilon UOG chapter was chartered in April 2019 and now has 53 members. It takes pride in being a selective honor society in the study of economics and in its members being accepted to graduate programs at Johns Hopkins University, the London School of Economics, Georgetown University, University of Hawai鈥榠 at M膩noa, Ritsumeikan University in Japan, De La Salle University鈥揗anila in the Philippines, and the UOG program.
